Don't get me wrong. I 100% agree with the Mayor. I don't see why anyone other then law enforcement needs guns in the city.
What are they shooting?
Oh, I don't know. Maybe they go to the western provinces to waterfowl hunt or elsewhere for larger game (I know people who go to Canada to bear hunt, part of Canadian tourism).
Maybe they are target shooters.
Do you expect the bad guys to turn in their guns?
I don't really care what happens in Toronto but I just think it's an interesting study.
I hope they ban guns and if they catch any of these wanna be gangsters pieces of **** with guns I hope they get harsh prison sentences or deported immediately if they are not citizens.
I hope with all my heart we never see another terrorist attack like we saw at Danforth, but I doubt banning guns will have an impact on preventing terrorism. We need to put a stronger emphasis on assimilation and secularism in our big cities.
Banning gun sales is pretty much like banning murder and stealing... well, they are illegal so basically banned , but does that stop people from killing and stealing ?

As someone who lives in a city. I really do not see the point of having a gun.
It is really not needed. They are not allowed to shot animals in the city.
There are not large angry bears roaming around that could eat people lol.
If they want to shot things for fun ... there was this video game called Duck Hunt or digital games.
Guns are not toys or at least should not be.
There is really no need. Find another toy or move to the forests.

If someone is going to do something really bad ... they will find another outlet.
But the goal is something catching on before they are able to do it.
To be fair, you can live in the city and drive to the forests on your off time. I agree about handguns, there's really no need. Long rifles and shotguns though should not be banned.
You all seem to be misreading the news report. Toronto is not banning guns--it is seeking to call upon the federal government to ban handgun sales in the city of Toronto. Emphasis added, because the city's motion has nothing to do with legal handguns already existing in the hands of Torontonians, or of legal long guns already existing in the hands of Torontonians, or of legal handgun sales outside the borders of the city of Toronto. It just has to do with the sale of legal handguns within the borders of the city of Toronto. From here:
Quote:
The city's motion, which , both calls on Prime Minister Justin Trudeau's Liberal government to outlaw the sale of handguns and urges the provincial government to ban handgun ammunition sales in Toronto. The council also voted for stronger prevention against gun sales for domestic abusers and people with mental illness, as well as a crackdown on gun trafficking.
The fact is, that guns are federally-regulated in Canada; and as such, the municipal government in Toronto has no say in gun regulation, except to ask the federal government to "do something." Whether the federal government will or will not is up to the Parliament in Ottawa.
Also, I have to ask about "handgun ammunition." Many times, I shot a handgun using .22 LR (.22 caliber, long rifle) ammunition. Does this mean that I will not be able to find .22 LR ammunition for my target-shooting rifle in Toronto any more? Not that I'm in Toronto much any more, but it would be nice to know. I shot many times in high-level competitions, including in Toronto, and did try out for the Canadian Olympic team in shooting in 1983, and still enjoy shooting as a hobby. Should I get Eley Club to practice with and Eley Match before I get to Toronto?
