Hi, everyone! According to Google Maps, it takes an hour to go by bus from Toronto to Hamilton. Is that really the case or just wishful thinking? I've heard that traffic is absolutely insane anywhere in the Toronto area.

It depends on the time. I use to take the 8 am Go bus from Toronto to Hamilton once a week. I usually arrived in Hamilton (the first stop) around 8:50 am, so an hour is accurate. The latest i ever arrived in Hamilton was 9:30am and that was due to snow.

The Go train is actually slower than the bus.

1. I'm pretty sure train doesn't go all the way to Hamilton (and if it does only at certain times). You will need to get off at Aldershot and still take the bus into Hamilton.

2. The Train makes multiple stops along the way while the bus is express.

1. The train does pull all the way into Hamilton Go Centre and West Harbour stations.

for the full day.

2. Correct. The bus is faster, however the train will likely be more consistent and not subject to snowfall, accidents, or other factors.

Except for switches freezing in winter, or the lightning strike two weeks ago that caused signal problems and shut down the trains for a couple of hours, or such high winds in May that trees were downed along the tracks and trains were stuck for hours...or jumpers, or medical emergencies that affect thousands of people, not just the person in ill health. Barring those issues, trains are pretty good.
