Default Shopping in Toronto-suggestions

I'll be visiting Toronto in the month of December. We'll be staying near Bloor St (?) I think. I'll have a couple of days to do some shopping. I know of a couple of shopping areas, but any place you might suggest would be appreciated. If there are any shops similar to TJ Maxx or Filene's Basement I would love to hear about them.

Any restaurant suggestions appreciated also.

Thanks

Not sure what the format is for the stores you mentioned, but Filen's basement sounds like it might be a bargain type outlet.

While Bloor is a long street, it has the advantage of having easy access to public transit.

If you want to check out a Toronto shopping institution, I would suggest you make your way to Honest Ed's located on the south-west corner of Bloor and Bathurst. It's about a 2-minute walk from the Bathurst Street subway station.

Winners is the Canadian version of TJ Maxx and Marshall's. They're everywhere downtown. The best Winners is a couple blocks west of Bloor and Yonge and there's another one a little south on Yonge at College. Bloor st. for the most part is a lot of higher end clothing stores like Lacoste, Chanel and that type of stuff.
