Hello everyone,
I've searched the forum and found a few threads about Toronto winters, however I think I'll get more specific answers to what I'm looking for by asking to compare Toronto winters to somewhere I live.
I don't live in Cleveland, but I live about 35 minutes south of Cleveland. I'm still in the snowbelt so I know what getting hammered with snow is like. Basically, I just want to know how much worse, or better, or equal to, are the winters in Toronto compared to Cleveland.
Cleveland winters pretty much suck lol. Tons and tons of snow and cold. I don't mind the cold as much, just all the snow can get old. Toronto seems interesting though because they, unlike Cleveland, have great public transportation. If Toronto winters are as "bad" as Cleveland's, are they more tolerable due to the fact Toronto has subways and the whole PATH thing(sorry, I'm not exactly sure what the PATH thing is). Also, is it possible not to step outside alot in the winter with the use of the PATH to get around and such? That'd be pretty cool if so.
I know I'm kind of asking a lot, but I'm interested in Toronto. Might be a possible destination for me after college.
Anything anyone can tell me would be appreciated. Thanks!!
Temperature wise Cleveland and Toronto would be pretty similar.
Cleveland is on the leeward shore of a Great Lake and therefore gets regularly hammered with lake-effect snow. Toronto is on a windward shore and rarely gets belted by the lake-effect snow machine.
Last year in the city we were buried from November until about April. While there weren't many massive blizzards, it did seem to snow a little just about every day.
I guess this isn't really normal for Toronto, but the past few winters have shown us that anything is possible. It could be 15 and sunny in the middle of December, or -15 and snowing.
