I'll be flying to Buffalo airport and taking a shuttle bus across the border (compared to flying directly to Pearson, the prices are roughly 60% lower for my dates of travel - multiplied over several people, that is some serious coin), and was wondering if anyone in the Toronto/Niagra area has any experiences to share?
Do the shuttles hang around for hours in order to cross with a fuller load of passengers? The fare seems pretty cheap (~$40 each way for 4 or fewer people, Buffalo airport to Fort Erie, ON - driving from there), and I cannot see ideal enough passenger/flight coordination to fill a 8-12 passenger van without significant waiting-times. I doubt they will schedule a crossing with only 3-4 passengers.
With Robert Q (Pearson to various SW Ontario locations), we typically waited 10-20 minutes, but Buffalo airport is tiny in comparison and has fairly low volume, so am fearing we may be sitting in a parked shuttle bus for hours until the Topeka flight with the other 4 shuttle customers arrives (to paint an example scenario).
What shuttle are you talking about?
I used to take Coach Canada and it took about an hour to all the passenger to pass border checks.
Yes it is a shame many have to drive to Buffalo to take a flight. More competition, please!
