I hope somebody will come back and read this because it is important!
It says in the ad that the mileage is "137,000 but really 87,350".
What is that about??? How is that low miles? She has a picture up that shows the miles as 137 but she calls it kilometers.
The other thing is she said she just changed the oil.
Will I still be able smell fire since she just changed it?
Thanks
If there is no extraneous smells, of bladders or of smoke, then all is well. Example 1 land mile is equal to 1609 meters. Then mileage 85 miles this is normal.if all in good condition. On the other hand, if it was in km 87 it is very good for this year.If 87350 km of the 54 miles

I still just don't understand her saying that 137,000 miles is really 87,000 miles???
My Chevy Cavalier has 94,000 miles (almost dead now) and I thought that is how many miles it has.
Is Toyota different?

For this year's OK, but you can search with less mileage 2 times.f the owners of the caring for her, then I think there will be no problem.
If you buy, the Board first of all change the timing belt (this belt on the engine) and oil
There is no belt on the American/Canadian version of the Echo its a chain and will almost always outlast the life of the engine.
As for the kilometer/miles? it maybe a Canadian import. or a question you might want to ask the owner..137,000 kilometers is about 87,000 miles

There are several incarnations of the Echo around the world with 4-5 different engines, here in N.America we just get the 1.5L, i think they call the Echo a Vitz in many other parts of the world.
Its a great little car, i love it.
the Tercel became the Echo and the Echo became the Yaris. I had a 92 Tercel which i donated to Cars 4 Kids earlier this year with 135,000. new exhaust system, brakes, battery, car ran forever. only major issue was heavy oil consumption and needing a mechanic to get the car to pass emissions. somebody bought the car from Cars 4 Kids for over $500.

YES!
The domestic brands economy cars are "throw away cars" and that's according to the reps in the dealer's service department.
On the other hand, toyotas are designed to be heirlooms! 100k miles is NOTHING for a toyota, even the economy models. With toyo, you pay a more and the car lasts longer. Simple as that. Their paint is the only thing that totally sucks but I guess you gotta do something to get people to want a new one, eh?
I've become very loyal to toyota. Even though I think their cars are ugly as sin, they keep running with minimal upkeep and no visits to the mechanic, ever. At the end of the day, that's good enough compromise for me.
RE: the milage, as has been pointed out, is converting Kilometers with Miles. Unfortunately we never got on the metric system bandwagon. It sounds like this echo might have originated in canada. But that can be swapped out for miles instead of Kms at your mechanic. (Negotiate $350 discount to have this done)
I've got one toyo with twice as many miles, drives like a new car and another one with about 75k miles. I don't plan on replacing them until electric/gas hybrid pickup trucks come out in my price range. (I ain't holding my breath!)
