Fixing to buy a 2013 Tacoma Reg Cab 4WD Auto. Sticker price $23,583.00 I have a 2010 Tacoma Reg Cab 2WD Auto. Been trying to sell it myself and may have it sold by the end of the month, at the same time I am dealing with a dealer on a trade in on the new Tacoma. We are knocking around some figures. I had them give me a work up on the offer. The trade difference is $9800.00. Taxes are $801.05. Doc Fee is $149.00. License Fee is $15.50. This adds up to a total out the door price of $10,665.55. $23,585.00 for the 2013 and allowed $13,885.00 for the trade. So they came off the sticker price ZIP and low balled me on my truck. That won’t work for me. I know they have some money on the back end of the new truck. My truck is not the run of the mill truck. I am doing this on line. I have seen the salesman one time for a few sec. I have a problem with the Doc fee of a $149.00. I am paying $845.00 for Delivery, Processing and Handling fees for the new truck

What do you all think a good counter offer would be? I figure go low like they did. I hate buying vehicles from dealers. Usually after the first lie I tell them to f*** off. That’s why I am doing this through emails. I am thinking a counter offer at $6,000.00 plus TTL. I am not upside down on mine by any means.

Maybe wait a bit more towards the end or first of the year and see if they come up with some incentives.

My truck:
One owner.
21700 miles.
Carport kept.
Smoke free, food free, salt free and have not seen much rain.
I added:
Undercover.
DFWTF mats.
Bed mat.
Heavy duty Curt Hitch and Receiver.
AFE PRO DRY air filter.
Oil filter magnet.

My truck is in perfect condition inside and out and under and can see it here:

Being told by this dealer Oxmoor Toyota in Louisville, Ky That I cannot order my truck from the factory that I have to buy what's on the lot or do a dealer trade. Told me that Toyot does not do orders and want people to do dealer trades or buy what's on the lot.

I also had the Dealer in Murry Ky turn me down to sell me a truck because I wanted to factory order my truck. They even sent me a email telling me so. I know this is bull crap.

Though I keep telling myself not to get involved with posts that discuss suicidel purchases like trading in and buying from delaer, yet sheer damage done to a person always makes me to.
Your pickup averages $20K on craigslist.

Say, all those mentioned are way better than yours. Still, it's against sanity to trade it in for what they offer you. And Tacomas are hot commodity, mof, I will start looking for one spring time. But I'lll buy mine off auction and have it fixed.
Why am I wasting my time... Won't be listened to anyway. Be well. Keep feeding dealers with your blood earned money.

The key word is "averages" His trade is a 2WD regular cab, which would place it well below average. It's a fine truck, but by no means a $20k truck.

It's cheaper to keep your current Taco for a few more years no matter how you slice it.

Some perspective:

A new 2013 Toyota Tacoma regular cab with an automatic is $19270 plus buyers will get $750 cash back.

If one buys a remaining 2012 they can get $1500 cash back.

Is the Op just trying to trade a 2WD truck in for the 4x4 version since it is quite a loss they will take doing so....

Like others have said it will be cheaper to keep the Current truck for a few more years than trade it in for a new 2013 4x4 version of the same truck.

Better off to sell the truck outright than to use it as a trade in. To try and trade and wheel and deal is going to lose out on both when it comes to car dealerships.

If the new 2013 is only 23K with 4WD, how can the used 2WD, 3 yr old one worth 20K?

I take it you found the OP's ad?

I think the trade in offer is fair, considering I can buy this locally:

Used 2010 Toyota Tacoma (White Truck) Fargo, North Dakota
