And I can't stand this trend of having a big black plastic bumper-strip thingy going across a gaping front grill opening. What the hell is driving this element? It can't be aesthetics. Airflow management maybe? If so couldn't they at least tidy up the look of it a bit?
Yes, that is weird. Even my '08 Camry has a 5 speed auto in it. You would think that if the trans had an extra gear, mileage would be even better.

I wonder how much it's going to cost. With fuel prices going the way they are, we're not going to see $2.99/gallon gas anymore, IMO, I think this segment is going to be hard fought. Factor in the CAFE standards coming up and it's really going to be a competitive market for small cars like this.
