A recent while ago I've seen a mid 80's first generation Toyota Camry liftback and realized that is a car you hardly see around anymore, I've never seen that many even back in the old days and the one I've seen was a creme colored car and it appeared to be in good shape, unfortunately I don't have the picture of the vehicle
There aren't any 83-86 Toyota anythings in my area. They all rusted away years if not decades ago. But you're right, the Camry liftback wasn't all that common in the first place. In those days, maybe 1 in 3 Camrys were liftbacks, but the Camry wasn't a best seller yet.
Camry liftbacks were fairly common around here. I dated a girl that drove a green one. The car was great, she wasn't. We rarely see cars here with rust issues but back then the Toyotas were a known rust bucket. Hardly see one anymore in one piece. Then again, you hardly ever see an old Toyota of any model.
I agree that the first generation Toyota Camry's were tiny compared to the newer Camry's, the new Camry's looks like a full sized car compared to the first generation Camry's, I find the liftback version of the Camry's better looking than the notchback version's of the same era.
Just like they were back in the early 1970's although unlike that time today's cars don't have nearly as much character or personality as those cars.
