Toyota finds itself in a precarious position. Those that enjoy cars as more than a simple means of transportation think of the Camry as a bland spongecake gone stale. And yet it's been the best-selling vehicle in the entire industry for the past 12 years, with a car rolling off the production line every 65 seconds. So how do you add flavor to your insipid dish without alienating your loyal -- and vast -- customer base?
Enter the 2015 Camry: Toyota's attempt to engage enthusiasts while appeasing to those that think a turbo is nothing but a cartoon snail.
This thing is hideous on so many levels. I'll start with the fake black plastic windows along the C pillar that cheapen this car severely. What the hell Toyota? That front end is simply awful with its massive gaping maw. I was also wondering what Mazda was going to do with all of its left over 2007-2013 Mazda 6 taillights but it seems that Toyota has found a place for them on this new Camry.
The front and side don't look bad. The rear belongs on a Hundai or a Kia. Doesn't match the front.
Kind of like the new Malibu. Front looks good, back looks good ... but they do not belong on the same vehicle.
