I am a huge Camry fan, one of the best cars I ever owned! Just want to share this article on the history/generations of the Camry.

Toyota Camry Generations - A Trip Down Memory Lane!

Please chime in on your experience with the Camry. I had a 2002 Camry that never left me stranded! Ran it up to over 150K miles! The only issue I ever had was the hood faded after 10 years and I took it to Maaco for a low priced paint job and they did a great job!

Also can anyone chime in on the latest Camry? is it still a reliable and solid vehicle? I can easily look up reviews but this forum seems to be a much more reliable source since you hear stuff straight from the horses mouth as the saying goes.

They missed the 1980's Camrys, especially the AWD models. Those things were super reliable even at high mileage, something that could not be said for most 1980's cars. One of my college roommates had one and loved it.

Never drove one until this week on a business rental. Have to say was rather surprised. Handled well, was comfy, good acceleration; a tiny bit thirsty on gas, but that was a minor issue.

Yep, love the Camry. Had a 2000 model, ran very well, until in '15 it needed some major emissions work and I traded it in for a Buick. The Buick was a nice car but started having a lot of problems a year ago, and in September I went back to owning a Camry - this time a 2009 model.

I would have went for an 2012 and up Camry. The 07-11 model years, took a ,quality control hit, in my opinion.

I had a 97 Camry. 4 Cyl Because of my line of work, it ran seven days a week. The only major issue was a head gasket @ 125K. At 150K I gave it to a relative. No rust at all, ran fine all the time here in New England. Finally at 195K, the transmission had some issues, and it needed exhaust and brakes. Traded it in.
Solid and dependable, nice ride, one of the best cars I ever owned.
I saw one still on the road the other day, same color. Who knows?

The Camry began circa 1983, as a "replacement" for the Corona. The early 80s, as some of us remember, was a watershed period... a most unfortunate transition from RWD to FWD. The Corona was the midsized (for the time!) Toyota sedan - a stalwart of the 70s. My first car was a Corona wagon, with the 20R engine (carbureted, of course!) and a 5-speed.

The Cressida continued for quite some time, as the inline-6 RWD model. It later made an appearance in the US market as the Lexus IS300.

The irony is that the 3.5L V6 in the Camry, starting in 2007, is spectacular! It's only real fault is the unreliable water pump. That engine deserves to go into the FRS, into a sporty version of the Corolla (RWD, of course) and in a mainstream midsized sedan. Currently the best car featuring that engine is the Lotus Evora.

Toyota also needs to offer its 3.5L V6 as a crate-engine, for swappers and hobbyists. One can only dream....
