Just hit 100,000 and the maintenance light is on (has been for a few days).
Any ideas on what it could be? Could it just be an oil change? I have about 1000 miles before I need one.

Thanks!
I like to go in with some idea of what they might say.

Maintenance light should come on every 5k miles for oil changes. It’ll flash in the beginning when you first start the engine, and then it’ll stay lit continuously.

Place I took it to today wanted almost a thousand bucks to do a 90,000 service check. Going to another place for another opinion on Wednesday.
Could that be right? That sounds ridiculously high.

Yes that’s ridiculous. Tell them to change the oil and filter and that’s it. Air filters you can buy and change yourself, it’s not hard.

I will say, that it probably is getting time to have your transmission fluid drained and refilled (not flushed). It’s not urgent, but do plan on it in the near future. If your serpentine belt is original it’s probably a good idea to change it out as well.

At 90K miles it calls for your timing belt to be replaced and they probably included the water pump and your drive belts. So yeah about $1000 is about right.

4.0 uses a timing chain.

The 4.7 V8 uses a belt, but you’re looking more around $1500 for that.

The dealer quote for the belt on my 4.7 was around $889.
Had the belt, pump ect done at an indy shop for around $700.

Belt had 170k on it and still looked great tho I wouldn't ever recommend pushing limits on an interference engine like that.
Prices are from about three years ago.
