I could not believe there was nothing about airplanes on this site! I posted a thread for aviation in general (http://www.city-data.com/forum/autom...airplanes.html), and this is the most reasonable category I could find to put air SHOWS under. I travel to several airshows every year, as well as video them, and am very passionate about all the acts and demo teams. Anyone else enjoy an exciting day of gravity-defying aerobatics and heart-rumbling afterburner?
I have been several airshows and I think they are great.
I have seen the Blue Angels a few times.
You might want to post your airshow thread on the hobbies forum.
I use to go to the one at mcGuire afb when I lived there. They have the big cargo ones on display as well, it can be fun. That's something I'd want to do this year, but no longer follow the dates and usually miss it.
Saw the one at Luke AFB last year, the F-22 demo was absolutely amazing, and the gun on the A-10 is about the loudest thing I've heard since Ministry played at Lollapalooza back in the day.
I try to plan my drives down from Alaska around shows of any type. Seen part of the Abbotsford Airshow when I drove down one year and I try to find air museums, too.
The airshow in the Portland area is actually in Hillsboro (at the small airport there). They've had the Thunderbirds, Navy Seals, Snowbirds, Blue Angels. . . plus all kinds of antique/vintage planes and some great skydivers and fireworks.
Oddly enough, I have never attended the show because I live about a mile from the airport and watch a lot of the "skycrobatics" from my house. But I would really like to ~ may do it this year.
I've watched some cool airshows in San Francisco during Fleet Week.
