We are going for the first time. Anyone been there recently? What did you like/dislike? Any things/places that are a must see? OR not worth my time?

Thanks!
WG

I was there about a year ago- you can see the whole island in a short amount of time, its tiny!!

I loved the ATV tour, AMAZING scenery- the ppl who did the jeep and bus tour didn't seem to have such a personal experience...

We went out downtown on Saturday (or Fri, dont remember) to a few bars where the locals hung out, 1 was salsa, merengue, the other was reggaeton, I absolutely loved it. Went to a casino and hung out the rest of the night, won a few hundred bucks from Blackjack and called it a night.

Anyway, we did see a lot of the major sights- the collapsed natural bridge then traveled along the northern coast (breathtaking scenery), gold mine ruins, Ayo rock formations, Casibari boulders, Chapel of Alto Vista, California Point Lighthouse and more- that was in 1 tour!

There is a 'natural pool' as well but some say its too dangerous 2 swim in, we didnt go. The beaches are amazing of course..!

I was thoroughly impressed by the friendliness of the Aruban people and also how they speak so many languages fluently... They are a beautiful people as well, so many different cultures intermixed- I was in awe at how beautifully different some people looked...

Aruba is one of my top vacation picks out of all of the places Ive been!

... to answer another question- I didnt do anything that I wish I had skipped- I only wished I had made it to downtown Oranjestad to do some shopping... most of the stores were closed on Sunday and that was our only free day...

Thanks for the response! Sounds good. What did you do on Sunday, then? I went on tripadvisor to look at things to do, etc, what about the boat snorkling tours? Did you do any of that? If so, which boat?

Beach all day Sunday! LOL! OH we didnt snorkel, but we did rent a wave runner... I wish I had snorkeled there- the water is super clear and amazingly blue. Hindsight is 20/20 of course! Tours on Sundays were less in number as well, FYI... Also, dont be afraid to go with tripadvisor reviewers recommendations- theyve always been spot on for me...

OH and we were recommended Nos Cunucu for typical Aruban food- a tad expensive for me, but interesting and good... I read a review that said someones bill was abt $75 for 4 people, but thats what we paid for 2...

With all the casinos and beaches there are to pick from on this planet,Aruba will never see a dime of MY money until they install a government that treats its tourists better than they treated Natalie Holloway's family. Enjoy your trip and come home safe.
