I like the beach but I am not one of those who can literally spend a full 8 hour day there.

My husband loves the beach: laying there half naked, not moving an inch for days is his ideal vacation
I hate the beach, I can't sit still on vacation. I want to be out and about, explore the culture the people the life of new place.

We usually have hard time planning vacation

I definitely prefer being more active on a vacation exploring different cities, neighborhoods and hiking/biking. During my recent trip, I visited several beach locations (Ko Phi Phi and Langkawi) which I enjoyed a lot. Much better than any beach locations I have visited, including Hawaii.

I think it depends on the type of vacation and where. In the past I was never a fan, mostly because I wasn't all that social growing up, so young person type beach vacations didn't appeal to me. After going to St. Augustine and the Outer Banks the last few years, I enjoy the beach more. It is just my wife and I so it does get boring. I would really like to find a place, not just the beach, with some good cliff jumping, snorkeling, and such. I still love the mountains and day hiking, but water activities are fun.

I like the beach but I could not take a vacation where the ONLY activity was sitting on the beach. I like to experience places.
