I love the ocean! It has a wonderful calming effect and I love to hear the waves crashing onto the shore. One of the most beautiful settings is to see a sunset/sunrise over the ocean or how the moonlight reflects upon the water at night.

There are so many beautiful beaches around the world dude. I recommend you to visit Aruba, Hawaii, Cancun, Cabo San Lucas, any Thai tropical island, Okinawa, southern beaches in France, east coast beaches of Ireland, etc. All you have to do after enjoying the beach is shower to get rid of that sticky salty feeling and later enjoy the pictures at home .

It almost as wussy as people from the south complaining about getting two inches of snowr, while people in the north are getting 10 inches and 30 below temperatures on a regular basis.

Yes but the people in the north complain about the heat the southerners get on a regular basis. I know. I'm a northerner.

I like variety -- I love the sea and the smell of the sea (even if it is dead fish and rotten seaweed), but I also hate sunny weather and the fact that I have to cover myself head-to-toe in greasy sunscreen in order to avoid painful blisters. My dream vacations center on northern countries, preferably mountainous ones.

That said, sand being the biggest downside of a beach vacation, there do exist some swimmable pebble beaches (and hot, smooth, rounded pebbles are actually much more pleasant to walk on than one may first imagine). The northern coast of the Black Sea is one area where such beaches may be found.

I like being on the water, in a boat. Beaches? Not so much. I loved them as a kid, but now, I just don't like being hot and uncomfortable. Fortunately, my guy is in agreement.

Hey OP, you should come to Oz then. No, really. Although the country is surrounded by beaches, some people obviously share your feelings.
Darwin Wave Pool
Ok, ok...so there's more than a few "creepy fish" to worry about in tropical Australian oceans, granted. A few little things like crocodiles, box jellyfish, scary tourists, etc.

We have some land in the country, with a creek. You're welcome to come stay. The creek has some frightening eels in it though, (and after they've been drinking, they're kinda leery) and the continual trickling of the water puts you in bladder-hell.
But don't worry 'bout the banjo-pluckin' albino neighbor, he's really very friendly....
