What if a woman brings a purse? Do they charge $45 and count it as a carryon? Knowing Spirit, I wouldn't be surprised. If they don't they I'd bring a bag too and call it a purse. I'm not above swallowing my pride for 15 minutes in a boarding line to save $45.

I recently flew Spirit and have no complaints about their policy. I took a backpack which fit under the seat. Even if I took a bag which had to go in the overhead it would have been cheaper than anyone else. I did buy a cup of coffee for $2. Can't do without that. Flying a la carte is not such a bad policy: pay only for what you use.
