My husband and I are planning a trip to Charlottesville VA in the fall. Can someone recommend hotels and restaurant? We are willing to spend up to $125 a night for a hotel.

i have eaten at the Ivy Inn in Charlottesville, and it is exceptional. i highly recommend it.

most recently i ate lunch at a little sandwich and beer joint called "Beer run," that was good.

you may want to post in the Virginia forum as well, they will have more informed posters there.

There will be plenty of $125 hotels (and less) at the exit ramps, and none will be full. Pick the one you like. When you get there, ask people in Charlottesville (who look like your age and class) where is their favorite unknown, secret place to eat. People love it when you ask them things like that. If you're lucky, somebody will send you ten miles down some country road to a goofy little crossroads tavern, and you'll have something to talk about later. Live dangerously.

Or else, price two hotels, and choose the cheaper one, and use the difference to treat yourself to the most expensive eatery in town.

Charlottesville Hotels: Boar’s Head University of Virginia VA Blue Ridge Mountains UVA area luxury resorts inns lodging lodges spas conferences centers suites rooms romantic family golf getaways vacations packages weddings meetings planning inns

Well worth the $150 rate. Just wait until UVA is in session and parents are gone.

We visited Charlottesville VA in late Spring of 07 and found it to be a lovely city. Colleges were not in session so we were able to walk freely around the Unversity Campus there. The Jefferson Library is well worth a visit. We stayed in a Comfort Inn for 2 nights and found it reasonably priced and also had a nice pool out back.

Ivy Inn is a great bargain, clean, quiet, well maintained.
