I've been to Jamaica and Bahamas. Hated Bahamas love Jamaica.

Wondering if anyone has been to another island thats somewhat similar to Jamaica.

Not just talking about beaches b/c lets be honest theres beautiful beaches all over the Caribean more talkin price point, Jamaica is pretty affordable compared to USVI, Barbados, etc.

I also kinda like how its very laid back and casual, not a lot of rules. Many places you have guard rails up, gotta sign waivers to do stuff, etc. None of that in Jamaica.

Also like the laid back attitude towards various libations if ya catch my drift.

Any other caribean islands compare?

I've not been to Jamaica yet, but heading to Negril in November, so I can only base this on my research. I have been to the Bahamas, BVI, USVI & Puerto Rico, so have seen some of the Caribbean. The other spot I've been to in the Caribbean is Tulum, Mexico. Tulum was very laid back and the beach road there is sort of what I expect West End Road (One Love Drive) to be like. There are some really cool, small, laid back "resorts" on the beach which fully embrace their natural surroundings. Most have a bar and restaurant and the food is outstanding. Of course, Mexican beers and tequila are everywhere, so a good drink is easy to come by. Tulum, like Negril, was sort of a hippie enclave before it was "discovered" so I imagine other stuff can be found by asking the right folks...probably not as easy as in Jamaica, though. Tulum also affords proximity to beautiful Mayan ruins, freshwater cenotes, and awesome empty beaches and jungle in Si'an Ka'an Biosphere. Tulum set the bar pretty high for me and I'm hoping that Negril can measure up.
