Will be bringing perfume internationally, it is a gift and unopened.. but it is quite expensive and I'm not sure I want to have it in my check in luggage. Would I be allowed to bring this on the flight? What is my best bet here?

It will still have to meet TSA 3-3-3 quidelines. If its larger than 3.1oz., you'll have to check it.

I'm in the same situation, flying internationally at Christmas and am giving this certain perfume as a gift. But am packing it- unwrapped, in my checked luggage.

If it's that expensive, ship it and buy the insurance.

You'd probably get away with packing and checking it - BUT... technically, since pretty much any perfume is a flammable liquid, there are things you need to consider.

To do it right, you might have to find the perfume's flash point and it has to be above a certain limit, and you may need to produce some paperwork to prove that it qualifies to the airline. Call the airline's information desk for rules and regulations. I'm not saying that this is going to happen for certain, but you are packing a flammable/combustible liquid and security has every right to confiscate it unless you can produce something to stop them. Regulations like this has prevented me from shipping a perfume as a gift by airmail.

Also, keep in mind that the pressure changes involved in air travel may cause the perfume to leak out of a sprayer cap, for example.

If you don't, they might ask you to toss it in the bin...

Just for anyone else who might have this same problem:

I got nervous and went to the airport, they told me 3.4oz will send that bottle to the trash. I have to put it in my checked luggage.
