That headland or island in the background looks to be of too much elevation for the Keys. I don't think that's trees as the tree-top line isn't uniform enough and I don't see any palm trees.

Has to be something on the US mainland.

Mainly, I first thought somewhere near LA because of the architecture and the way the sun comes up over the Palos Verdes bluffs. But those bluffs in the background picture are not high enough. I don't think there are too many other places on the West Coast that present this type of sun rise.

I would maintain that this elevation would also eliminate anything along the gulf coast or SE seaboard as well.

All that really remains is New England.

Picture contains no clues that would suggest a location. Can be solved only by a laborious search of the photos of every common mosque on earth.

i think the structure is unique enough to NOT need a clue. I personally think this is fair game with no additional clues needed....but that's just me.
