I can't understand why this is such a divisive issue.

It is a blatant attack on the 4th amendment.

Why would you want to give up your basic rights as a human being and an American citizen?

Yet again, the left is marching in lockstep with whatever this regime desires.

Huh? Is it a divisive issue?
Here is a recent poll.

Double Huh?
How did the left feel about the Patriot Act?
One thing I'll agree on is that there should have been as much ruckus over the Patriot Act as there is now about men having their junk touched.

I have no party affiliation (registered independent) but am fairly liberal/lean to the left of center. For what it's worth, I was anti-Patriot Act and am against these new TSA measures. I am just shocked I find myself on the same side of an issue as Glen Beck! That may be a first.

Yeah it's kinda interesting how the War on Terror was fine until scanners and crotches got involved.

Kinda funny. OP makes a thread wondering how this is a left/right divisive issue, then launches into blind partisan attack against the evil left.

Get a mirror dude, it is people like you who see things as political teams instead of issues to be judged on their own merit that create the left/right chasm.

No suprise, the original poster frequents the political forum. We have this problem in the History Forum as well, the political forum nuts who spend bandwidth with such intellegent and well thought out words of wisdom such as "Bush is Hitler" or "Obama is Hitler" (yes I am being sarcastic, usually never more than that) in there own forum, migrate and spill over with the same type of dialog in other forums.

I won't use the word trolling, but lets just say keep politics out of it in this forum at least. This is a bipartisan issue.

TSA agents should know I dress to the left but they'll probably figure that out on their own.

Aside from literally a couple of posts including the OP's, I haven't seen anything partisan going on. The right and the left agree on this. I am amazed that only Ron Paul, whom I can agree with just here and there, is the only politician willing to sound out and act. This has hit a very common thread in people and I guess it shows that deep inside we aren't quite as divided as we seem.

The combined mega thread in politics is now over 113 pages long and still going strong and except for one post that took partisan potshots and was countered by several people immediately, the only argument has been with the sheeple who think its okay since its going to keep us safe. But who keeps us safe from the ged rated government agents?

It's been quite refreshing posting back and forth with people I usually end up arguing with over something fundamental but it there is nothing to argue with here.

The left doesn't march in lock step with anything except what appears to be a fair and impartial and well-reasoned position that appears to provide the greatest overall benefit. That's why it is incorrect to assume that the left waits for the right to propose something, and then automatically "march in lock step" against it.

I understand that people steeped (no pun intended) in the right cannot fathom that approach, but it's there, nevertheless.

By the way, nightbird, read Ron Paul's entire statement. He want the government to get out of the security business, and leave our transport safety up to the discretion of the billionaires in the board rooms. Ron Paul knows that they never act in their own interests, and they watch out only for the common welfare of the citizenry, no matter how much it costs them in profits.

bluewillow, where are you reading that the Left thinks the 'war on terror is fine', with its Patriot Act and Asian invasions?

You are correct, the public overwhelmingly supports the use of the scanners.

Don't confuse volume of voice with volume with numbers.
