A judge in Spain has ruled that Irish low-cost airline Ryanair cannot charge passengers for failing to print out their own boarding cards, in a decision made public Friday.
The judge was ruling on a case brought by a Spanish lawyer, Dan Miro, who was charged the standard Ryanair fee of 40 euros ($A54) for failing to print his boarding card before a flight.
Good.
What they were doing is an example of the further deterioration of services offered by the airlines. Heaven forbid we don't want to use the self-serve machines, and actually force them them to do their jobs.
If you don't have checked luggage, online checkin is a lot better if you have an early morning when the airport is slow you can show up a lot later and not have to worrry about the 30 minute rule of checkin.
True, But i've been @ hotels that dont have a printer to print the boarding pass, or there's a line of people waiting for the 1 Computer to print it out.
I think I'm against this ruling.. why should the government be able to dictate what a business offers and doesn't offer? Ryanair offers very cheap fares and to do this they will have to cut edges.. the consumer will decide what is important to them. If they don't want to print a boarding pass on their own they can fly a different airline and if Ryanair loses money from this I would assume they would go back to doing the boarding passes.

This particular airline Ryanair is beyond belief, with the number of add on fees they try or have tried to stick the passenger with. I wouldn't fly on this particular airline period. I don't care if they are low cost.
I think Delta is wanting to pull this boarding pass fee also.
