I used name your own price to buy roundtrip airfare two days before I flew, and was really happy. I was expecting to get stuck with 6am flights plus huge mid-day layovers and end up wasting a day traveling in each direction - so I had to build that time into my schedule just in case that's what I got. Flexibility with time seems very important with name your own price on airfare. I ended up getting non-stop flights at the time I would have picked anyway, and I saved $150.

My experience was the same as 115db. Room reservations are fine, but combine it with an air reservation, and expect the worst possible air connections.

Love NYOP Hotel feature, used many times, with great results. I would NEVER use it for air, due to the wide open timeframe. Plus, I'm in a Southwest city as are my destinations, so fares are dirt cheap 365/7.

I've used Priceline several times for car reservations and also hotel rooms when the city has higher end hotels that participate. I don't stay in hotels too much now that I have kids as we mostly rent houses or bigger apartments. But we still use it for rental cars.

I've found the best thing to do if you want to use Priceline is utilize sites like www.betterbidding.com which lay out which hotels are on the site and what people are successful at bidding. It really helps you understand the lowest prices that are being accepted.
