I'm wondering if anyone can suggest a safe, clean place to stay at overnight in Vegas. One night is going to be on a weekend so I get that rates will be higher
We just want to get our money's worth and not regret the room. It's been over 20 years since I've been there so half of everything existing now wasn't there then
My husband stayed at the hotel at Treasure Island. He thought it was ok. We own a timeshare with Hilton and can stay at their Grand Vacations resort there. Great rooms. Its at the far end of the strip by the Stratosphere. Hope that helps.
I've been to Vegas only once but absolutely loved it! We stayed at Treasure Island as well. It wsn't great, but it wasn't too shabby either. TI seemed more of a "younger crowd" type atmostphere though. At least that's what it felt like to me.
We did a lot of hotel exploring and my fave was the Venetian. It's pricey but it looks absolutely amazing. We also liked the Bellagio.
I've stayed at Caesar's Palace, MGM Grand, and the Renaissance. Personally, I like the MGM b/c they have excellent room service, so if you get a craving for a good personal pizza late at night, you can get it delivered. The MGM is also in a good location, close to many other casinos (you can take the skybridge across to New York New York), has shows and such onsite, a good selection of restaurants onsite, and is a monorail stop. I tend to stay there when in Vegas b/c it's consistently a good experience.
Caesar's is nice, on the spendy side, and is a bit labyrinthine, in my opinion. If you don't mind doing laps trying to find your way out of the casino, and you want a spa tub in your room, this may be for you. Caesar's does have the Forum Shops, and a decent selection of restaurants onsite.
The Renaissance is supposed to be a hotel that caters to business travelers, but I was unimpressed. Not much in food selections onsite, and the location, near the Hilton, isn't as ideal as MGM or Caesar's. The service also left something to be desired.
One hotel that I haven't stayed at, but have toured, eaten at, played slots at, and would want to stay at, is Main Street Station in "glitter gulch". It's close to Fremont Street and the other older, original strip, casinos. It's considerably less expensive than the Strip hotels because of its location, but it's a lower-key place with a great microbrewery onsite. It's a very charming hotel, and if you're looking to stay away from the hustle and bustle of the Strip, you might want to check it out.
I stayed at Excalibur on the southern end of the Strip. It was convenient for parking. It had a skywalk that connected it to the biggest Hotels in Vegas so you could stay at Excalibur and easily get to the others. I thought Vegas was congested and even walking down the street was like Times Square, so this way made is easier. The rooms are large and modestly priced. There are newer shuttles now that help you get up and down the strip. Enjoy!
