Thinking about taking the train to TX this summer, however, according to the itinerary, the trip would take around 3 days to get there. I'm curious about the "on board" experience - are the trains clean, how is the seating & dining - are the sleeper cars worth the extra $$$? Do the cars have plug ins for electronic devices? My DS has never experienced a train ride & DH & I think it would be fun, just not sure if it still would be fun by the 3rd day.
Your input/experience is most appreciated!

Plug ins can be found in various places. Just a suggestion...The plug ins in the roomette I had were recessed. Most a/c adapters will not fit into the recess. If you bring a short extension cord, that will resolve the recess problem.
