I might be going to Europe during Summer 2012 for 10 days for a family vacation. We are planning on spending half of the time in one city, and the other half in another city. We want the cities to be in two different countries. The cities should be, at the most, 7 hours driving time from each other. Does anyone have any suggestions?
Also, I'm probably going to be doing study abroad in the Czech Republic in either Spring 2012 or Fall 2012. The study abroad program includes a field trip to Austria and Slovakia so don't suggest any of those three countries.
Also out of May, June, July, and August, which month tends to be the cheapest?
Belgium and the Netherlands. Not much difference in prices during the months you named although May used to be considered "shoulder season" for airfares. Think that's a thing of the past now that so many schools end their terms in May. If you're just driving city-to-city take the train.
Spain and Portugal are also possibilities. Have a wonderful time!
Hard to answer without knowing what your interests are. History? Food? Natural beauty or man-made achievements? Would train of < 7 hours between these places be an option?
Not sure of the distance factor - is it by driving or flying?
If driving, maybe Spain and Portugal. Italy and Greece. Belgium and Netherlands. Germany and Austria.
