My husband and I got married 3 weeks before he deployed to Afghanistan. We didn't get to take a honeymoon and figured we would do that when he got back. He gets back in August and we will need a month or two just to get settled in and put our son in school (since we are moving to a new location). We were thinking the best month for us to take our honeymoon is October. We want to go to the caribbean, but are aware it will be a bad time to travel, hurricane-wise.

We are not willing to bend on the whole island thing, but I'm wondering if I should scrap taking a honeymoon in the fall. Winter isnt an option and we would have to wait until the spring basically. Or do we go and pick an island like Aruba that is a fairly safe bet? We didn't want to spend more than 2000 (Aruba is $$$) and the Dominican Republic is within our price range but I'm afraid of getting rained on every day.

I have travelled the Caribbean many times during October. We have been lucky and never experienced a hurricane on our trips. Any weather forecast you see will show rain every day, but a typical day is sunshine, rain for an hour in the afternoon, sunshine.
