LOL! I could not help cracking up when I saw this article ... Interesting publicity stunt considering the fact that this is only a 20 minute flight ...

That's an excellent marketing plan to get new flyers to try them out. Bet it goes over well with the 'carmageddon" situation this weekend.

How much are the fees along with it? I remember in Colombia I bought a 10 dollar ticket from Bogotá to Medellín, but with fees it ended up costing me closer to 50 dollars

Have no clue regarding fees as it appears that the tickets may be sold out! Oh well! Guess I can't fly into Burbank on Saturday!

20 minute flight. Be sure to arrive at least 45 minutes before your flight t0allow for time standing in the security line.
It was a nice idea but modern commercial air travel makes it less fun that it should be. Twenty years ago this would have been a fun thing to do on a whim but not today.

It's not fishy at all. And I'm pretty sure this is not a normal route for them. This weekend for 3 days the 405 in Los Angeles will be SHUT DOWN! CLOSED! That is why they are calling it Carmageddon. Carmageddon looms for Los Angeles - Dr. Gridlock - The Washington Post

This is actually genius of Jet Blue to do this. It will help those people get from one side of LA to the other. The roads are going to be a MESS!!! Even having to wait in security for an hour and then the quick flight and going to get a taxi will be far less time than it would have taken to attempt to drive that distance this weekend.

That is why it sold out so fast.

Per this article the $4 includes taxes and fees.
"The $4 one-way tickets include taxes and fees, and for $1 more, travelers can buy a bit of first-class treatment, including extra leg room and early boarding privileges...........................The offer was obviously popular. Tickets for all four flights -- about 600 seats in all -- sold out in just two hours."

It seems pretty cool though, if I was in the area I would have done it just to do it. Kudos to JetBlue for doing something fun

Default Carmageddon Preps

All veins of transportation are in on this Carmageddon thing. Everybody is trying to figure out what to do, but also how to market their business in the process.

Prime Time Shuttle is offering 1/2 price fares from anywhere in the San Fernando Valley to LAX. It was on the news the other night and then again tonight.

LAX preps travelers for Carmageddon Weekend.
