With In the US, Most Likely, TSA will take other forms of ID, and you will get a VERY intentice secuirty screening. Out Side the US, you will need go to the US Embassies, Consulates, and Diplomatic Missions, to get replacement.

It is..... Note Key word TSA MOST Likey... MAY ... Take other ID. Or they MAY NOT ... Depends on he mode of the TSA agents. You need to show them some sort of ID. If you don't have a PhotoID you better have lots of other ID's

My husband and I have both our drivers licenses and military ID's - when we travel we criss cross. Each of us carries one of our IDs and one of the others. (We also criss cross one change of clothing in each others suitcases) You could do the same with a passport and your traveling partner....

If you travel alone - I'd leave my passport or drivers license with someone who would be able or willing to overnight it to me if I needed it.

Exactly what said above. It would be a huge hassle. You would have to show them every form of ID you have, credit cards, student id, insurance card etc.. What ever you have. And also go through a very intense security screening.

Abroad Embassy is your only bet if you lost your passport.

You don't even technically need a photo ID to get on an aircraft.

Most states have digitalized driver license photos, Any Law enforcement agency (TSA, Airport Police) will be able to call up the Photos, for your states DMV, Also State Dept, has your passport photo in digitized format also, Might take them some time to get them/pull them up but they can get them.
