I had an open date ticket Douala to Lagos and a travel agent mistakenly put the wrong date on the ticket, I went to the airport the day before there was an actual flight, and just sat there by myself, with no flights at all that morning. I just went back to the hotel and got up the next morning and returned to the airport.

7 hours at Newark between connecting flights. Not a nice experience.

Not quite on-topic, but I spent four days in the one kilometer buffer zone between two countries: The country I left (having only a used single-entry visa) and one I sought to enter (where my visa was declared "invalid")

About 13 hours in Istanbul. Cruddy airport. Oh well.

Well, are we counting the time I crashed on the runway? That was about 4 hours to clear. Otherwise maybe 20 minutes.

Due to weather, I missed a connecting flight at Denver Airport and camped out overnight at the airport.

Also due to smog, my connecting flight from Beijing to Jinan was cancelled 2 days straight. The first night the airline gave me and my 3 colleagues 2 hotel rooms to share. But the 2nd day, the airline recommended that we take the high speed train instead and that is what we did.

Three days, IIRC, in Tel Aviv.

Shabbat Shalom,

Plane - 6 hours on a plane before taking off, several times.

Airport - most of a day. I've never spent the night in the airport - I was always able to find a hotel. If I'm stuck in some strange city for a night, I try to make the best of it - look for nightlife, take myself out for a nice dinner, etc.
