Non stop is about 5 1/2 hours. One stop takes about 7 1/2 hours.

The non stop one I like - the airport is a bit further but gives us more time at our destination.

The one stop is OK and may give those time to stretch their legs.

I'm not a good flyer (trying to be) but I'm trying to find the best way for our family to get to our destination.

Also, what is your opinion on flying at night? Better? Easier?

Tell me your stories.

(This is domestic travel within the US)

Prices about equal - Delta & American are the airlines. I've looked at a lot of others but the return flights aren't as good. (Example: 10 hour return, stuff like that).

In such short flight I would take non-stop. Less hassle.

Dont stop, it will just be an inconveniance and might actully be more tiring than the direct flight.

non stop without a doubt.... not sure I would do a night flight for such a short one as it doesn't give you enough time to sleep. by the time you have taken off, they have waved a sandwich at you, offered you a drink and the checked the seat belts for landing you will get 3 hours max and arrive exhausted.....

I like morning flights if going east to west as you arrive with a whole day to do stuff and are tired enough in the evening to sleep well. I guess over night is not too bad on a west to east flight, you can always have an afternoon nap if you are really tired the first day....

I once thought a great way to break the monotony of a Brisbane (AU) to London (UK) flight would be to spend 8 hours in Kuala Lumpur.

As they say, sometimes the best way to learn is the hard way.

agree with swisswife. I take red-eyes as much as possible when traveling east across the country, you waste much less time. As for the non/stop or 1 stop. I usually look at the seating and what I can get (assuming you're flying coach). I'd take a 1 stop with empty seats next to me or the emergency row over a packed non-stop. But that's just me.

As long as its not stopping at ratrace O'Hare airport, then I can handle a stop. I fly to Albuquerque, non stops are limited. Choices are stop at O'Hare, Phoenix, Denver, or DFW. I'd prefer DFW, Denver airport isn't bad, Phoenix takes me further out, and I just hate O'hare airport. Too crowded, too manic, too much potential for bad weather and delays. DFW is a good one, big airport, lots of services, clean, modern, and easy. Denver's alright too.

For your flight i would pick the non/stop, as long as it does no cost to much more, Your on your there your off. IF you take a connection, you 1. it takes longer, 2. your Checked bags (if any) stand a chance you missing your connection. 3. I you inbound flight is delayed you might miss your connecting flight. 4. your outbound connecting flight maybe be delayed or canceled.
