The ocean. Breathing the salt air and immersing in the salt water always makes me feel so much better. The tide is very calming. Love sand, too.

Desert beauty is very peaceful to me, too. I love the beauty of canyons and rocks and the palm trees and cacti. Also very calming to me.

Gee, I could have written this! Amazing.

The ocean really centers me. Brings me in touch with nature more than anything else. Even just breathing the air (if it is too cold to go into the water), renews my spirit and really brings me to a "special place" emotionally and spiritually.

I have never been a fan of the mountains (as the folks in the "Colorado" forum will attest), but I too, love the openness of the desert. I love it when a warm desert breeze blows over you just about sunset.

If you have never experienced it, you should.

I love the sounds of the waves of the ocean when they come rolling in especially at night time. It is a peaceful, calm like experience...I love the ocean and the waves hitting against the rocks...

The trees during the fall and the smell of burning leaves.

Any visible geography.

I grew up in flat, flat Chicago, in a neighborhood that was mostly paved over. We were so hard up for topographic variation that we used to name the freeway overpasses. Ford Hill (by the Ford plant). Nabisco Hill (by the Nabisco bakery ... the aroma of baking oreos wafting on the breeze .... yummmmmm). Even 30 years after moving to where there are hills and mountains, I still delight in seeing them! I miss the aroma of the Nabisco bakery, though. And I miss thunder and lightning.
