anyone been there this year? any additional travel-tour obstacles to get around?
There was someone that went a few months ago. Do a search a few pages back maybe and send the dude a PM. He indicated no issues otherwise. Egypt's bread and butter is tourism, and they have always been, if anything, obsesively over-protective of tourists under the old regime. No reason to assume it has changed much except that maybe they are not as overprotective. Which might actually be a good thing as far as freedom to go to some places that were previously difficult to get to. But, basically, the "gloom and doom" forecasts from the spring have not come to pass and things are relatively unchanged for a tourist.
They have elections I think in October or November. Keep your ear out on how those turn out. The Egyptian government and people are also becoming more anti-Israeli. Should have no impact to tourists however.
