Anyone stayed there or visited it?

I'd be interested in any comments.

One concern- it is next to a military airfield and just over the bay from the International airport. I wondered if this had a big effect on things.

I stayed elsewhere on Coronado Island but did visit and have breakfast there. It is on the water with a military base nearby....don't remember a lot of noise but a local will likely chime in about it. The breakfast was extravagant and delicious, eating outside with a view of their gardens and the water.

Otherwise, it is lovely and has quite a reputation....but is costly too. Just FYI: I stayed at the Marriott on Coronado that was on the opposite side, on the bay with a GREAT view of San Diego. The night view was awesome too.

The airport across the bay has flight paths that don't go over the Hotel Del. So that shouldn't be a problem. I'm guessing the military base doesn't cause too much of a problem just because the Del is so well-established - it would have made the news by now. I've never stayed there overnight - just toured and had a dinner there. The beach outside the Del is one of the nicest of the San Diego beaches.

Awesome and great location too...but costly. If cost isn't a concern, I'd do it.

the roof is quite fun to climb around on if you get all snapped up and a bit squirley.
