Hi!

My wife and I are interested in going somewhere to the Florida Keys next year and as I've been researching I see there's a few areas of the Florida Keys to go to.

We are in our late 20s and we're looking for a relaxing vacation and going to places that in general aren't too rowdy and overrun with bars and pubs (few are fine). We'd like to relax and walk on beaches, sightseeing, etc.

Any suggestions for which area in the florida keys would be our best bet? Thanks!

There's more than just one Key! Marathon or Islamorada are a lot quieter. Or even Key Largo or Big Pine could be an option. You don't have to stay on Key West - just visit it for the experience.

Lots of quiet places in the keys, and the keys of course is not all only "Key West", although the steriotypical sandy beaches may be a bit hard to come by in the keys...most of them are rocky.

Even Key West I would not describe as overun with bars and pubs except for a few streets. Regardless, many of them cater to gays.

Would also recommend Islamorada, conveniently half way to Key West and lots to do in the immediate area. Right across from the Lora Lei (sp) restaurant (great tiki bar) is a nice little resort we have stayed at a couple of times... Drop Anchor Resort.

Have also stayed in Key West and I would recommend splurging a lttle bit to find a place near Duvall. Most recently stayed at the Pier House Resort and it was one of the nicest places we've stayed and has it's own private beach.

Well forget Key West. The only sightseeing is the rowdy overrun bars. IMHO. LOL (and that's why I love it there).

Well, ok, there *is* the Hemingway House.....especially if you like cats.

Don't forget the roosters

OP: While you might be able to find what you are looking for the Keys...
there are far easier places to do and with less distraction.

I too would recommend Islamorada - if you have an extended period of time, maybe split between a couple of places .... it can take some time to move between islands

it doesn't sound like you should stay at key west, but you should definitely visit .... definitely check out sunset at mallory square .... aside from all the stuff that is going on there, to just watch the sun go down is incredible .... also from key west you could check out the dry tortugas, if you have a little bit to spend the seaplane looks like a blast - otherwise there is a ferry that runs out there
