Dubai is attracting tourism at a high rate and they are building wonders in the form of buildings. The island built on sea which resembles the palm is an amazing achievement of modern science and clearly reflects what money can buy.

Has anyone of you had the chance to visit Dubai and see all that for real? It would be interesting to learn actual experiences rather than edited reports in news and other places.

I had a chance to hit up Dubai last year while I was in Bahrain. It was not all its cracked up to be. The buildings are amazing and the shopping is great but that is about the end of it.

I do want to visit it. But I have heard the same not as awesome as it seems. But I love cities, and what Dubai has done in the last 10 years has been pretty crazy. Hope to visit soon.

it seems like a neat city, but i'm not really comfortable with a lot of the things going on over there ..... even some of the more established cities it can be a little off going through horrible slums to get to your oppulent vacation, even if they don't necessarily have anything to do with each other

in dubai they do a better job at hiding their labor force, but it would be difficult to stand in one of those pretty buildings without fully recognizing the condition of the person who very recently built it

Has anyone seen the video of Roger Federer on top of a building in Dubai, playing tennis?

Its pretty crazy. They turned it into a tennis court for some promotion. Where else can you be on top of the world playing tennis? Has anyone been to some of the newer airports in the middle east? How do they compare with american airports?

I use to travel to Dubai on a monthly basis back in 2007. Very nice city to visit and have fun. It is expensive, but if you want to live a great experience, I would recommend it.

Dubai Marina is very nice place to take the family and have a nice dinner. You also have many clubs and bars that you can hit up.
