Over 400, I just checked my trip advisor map and it says 519 but I don't think I would call them all cities...... I would be here for hours listing them and rating them and no one would be interested to read them.... hi-lights are
Sydney,
Mumbai,
Tokyo,
Kyoto,
Agra,
Xian,
London,
Hong Kong,
Hanoi,
Siem Reap,
Kathmandu,
Lhasa,
Colombo,
Bruges,
Copenhagen,
Zurich,
Paris,
Rome,
Salamanca,
Manchester,
NYC,
Washington,
Shanghai.

Looks more like 758 in 39 countries.
Like you, SW, some of them are not big cities, but they all have names.
This coming summer it will be Scandanavia and, hopefully, the Baltic States.

I couldn't get into Facebook this morning.

UNITED STATES ONLY
  • New York 7/10: great to visit, hard pressed to live there
  • Washington 8/10: my most recent trip was first one in 13 years and my opinion is now more positive, but just great to visit
  • Cincinnati 5/10: former residence; would be 7/10 but locals can be quite surly, but city does have its perks
  • Louisville 3/10: former residence; rudest city I've ever lived in. Yuck! Kentucky weather is worst in Ohio Valley, IMO.
  • Indianapolis 5/10: just not a fan of Indiana. City itself also just doesn't do much for me, but it's nice.
  • Lexington, KY 5/10: boring, one of the snootiest towns in heartland America to boot. And that Kentucky weather... At least I've had some fuuuuun times partying there, so that brings score up a notch.
  • Nashville 7/10: great to visit, but doesn't "bowl me over." Extra point for incredible local clean-up effort after 2010 flood.
  • Memphis 4/10: great to visit, but it really is an eyesore for Tennessee.
  • Birmingham 5/10: Downtown, Five Points South are great, love Red Mountain SP, but otherwise kinda boring
  • Atlanta 7/10: exciting city, just a lot of unmitigated sprawl for city its size
  • Raleigh/Durham 7/10: like the local atmosphere, friendly suburbs
  • Fort Worth 9/10: tied w/ Austin as my favorite city I've ever been to
  • Dallas 7/10: great city, but kinda...with Dalla-tude
  • Austin 9/10: tied w/ Ft. Worth as my favorite city I've ever been to
  • San Antonio 7/10: Downtown area is great, a lot of mission history, but otherwise kinda boring
  • Chicago 8/10: exciting city, one of my favorites (!!!), but it's chilly (to me) even on Memorial Day
  • Columbus, OH 6/10: nice and clean, probably a great place to live, but aloof/unfriendly locals brings score down a notch
  • Dayton 3/10: one of the Heartland's LEAST friendly cities, without contest
  • Knoxville 4/10: surprisingly unfriendly, in my experience, brings score down; city otherwise just unremarkable.
  • Los Angeles 6/10: was 8/10 but last trip rendered more negative impression. Amazing city, but keep well away from West LA/Hollywood for friendly locals, generally speaking.
  • Orange County 8/10: would be 9/10 but I liked North OC much better than South OC.
  • San Francisco 8/10: would be 9/10 but higher than average concentration of snooty people. Otherwise, amazing city!
  • San Jose 6/10: nice, comfortable place to live, still decent job market in this economy, but it's just kinda there.
  • Oakland 4/10: has the potential to rival SF in greatness, but crime, grit and Occutards just ruin the place. The locals seem really unhappy, too...no wonder.
  • Sacramento 7/10: I was impressed! It's more of a place to live than visit, but it has some very redeeming qualities.
  • Bakersfield 5/10: Yes, it counts, 350,000 people live there. City wasn't terrible aesthetically, it's just kind of grown up, like a weed, in the Central Valley. I can think of much worse places to live just in California.

I have 238 cities on my TripAdvisor map, but mostly, I just listed one in each country, so there are probably about 500 I've been to. Maybe 1,000, if I include places like the OP's Lafayette and Lubbock. Generally, I hate cities, and I avoid them when traveling, unless I have to go there for a visa or something.

Here are some cities that I would rate 5/10 or higher:
St. Louis
Cincinnati
Tulsa
Duluth
Montreal
St. John's, Newfoundland
London, Ontario
Cancun City Mexico (not beach area)
Durango Mexico
Medellin, Colombia
Asuncion, Paraguay
Mendoza, Argentina
Valparaiso/Vina del Mar, Chile
Belem, Brazil
Lisbon, Portugal
Budapest, Hungary
Berlin, Germany
Rijeka, Croatia
Khartoum, Sudan
Dar es Salaam, Tanzania
Tananarive, Madagascar
Douala, Cameroon
Bamako, Mali
Amman, Jordan
Seoul, Korea
Singapore

Here are some that I would rate 1/10 (Even though, in many cases, I loved the country):
Washington
Miami
Atlanta
Detroit
Las Vegas
Dallas
Halifax, Nova Scotia
Windsor, Ontario
Guatemala City, Guatemala
Montevideo, Uruguay
Quito, Ecuador
Sao Paulo, Brazil
Madrid, Spain
Stockholm, Sweden
Sofia, Bulgaria
Zurich, Switzerland
Cairo, Egypt
Monrovia, Liberia
Bangkok, Thailand
