That's a pathetic, underhanded way of exhorted more money out of their passengers. I hope this fiasco will cause a loss in customer loyalty. How can you expect folks to print out their boarding passes when you take your darned site offline. Good thing I've never had to deal with this company and will avoid it if I ever find myself needing to fly around Europe.
I have flown with Ryanair once from Prestwick (Scotland) to Beauvais (Paris). It was okay. Not great but very good value for money because the alternatives involved connecting through London. It was also very cheap even taking into account the 'extras'. Overall, our experience was positive.
Generally, my low cost choice in Europe is Easyjet. I have only had good experiences with them. However, mainstream airlines like BA can also be price competitive with the budget airlines. It pays to shop around.
My family lives in Ireland and my bro uses Ryanair a lot. But he uses them when he flies from Dublin to Liverpool for soccer games only. So he is not carrying anything on and walks thru.
They really get you coming and going. I have never used them. We are forced to use Aer Lingus from the states and whenever we have a choice, I do not use them.
With the air prices what they are today, people are looking for the best bargain they can get; if that means RyanAir so be it. People may not like their way of doing business or the owner, but money talks.
