My goal is to visit as many new cities (globally) as I can and spend about a month in each place. During this time I will be working full time (I work remotely). The biggest issue with this is lodging. If I stay in hotels I will be burning A LOT of money. $100 a night is over $4k a month!

Does anyone have any ideas/tips on how I can find a good place to stay for a month or less at a time, that has modern convinces such as internet connections and.......showers? I wouldn't want to spend more than $1k a month for living...The listings on homeaway.com is just way too expensive, I'd be better of staying in hotels!

Any tips or advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

plenty of options. I have done "private guest / hospitality homes for over 25 yrs ($10/night)

You can usually rent affordable furnished flats NEAR major cities in the world and commute via train / bus within the region.

Choose areas with CHEAP regional aircarriers and you can venture all over the place while centered in an inexpensive apt.

I have a S-I-L who 'house-sat' for 30+ yrs in and around Hawaii.

Where do you live? The reason I ask is I live between Denver and the mountains and have a nicely furnished one bedroom. I can rent it out to people doing what you are for $1500+ / month.
Adds $1500 to my budget.

I really don't think anyone looking for cheap budgeting is going to pay 1500 for a month. That's almost as expensive as my old 2/2 in a high rise on the water in downtown(brickell) Miami......

Denver is on my list of places to visit, so this might be an option. Does your place have internet? PM me with more details!

Thanks!

Another option is renting a 'sleeping' room from senior citizens. Many have a daylight basement / spare room / guest house they will rent for $300/ month.

Where do you find things like that? I'm not sure if Seniors would be posting ads on craigslist list

I'm not looking to rent to those looking for cheap housing.
I'm trying to get cash out of my apartment instead of it sitting empty while I'm traveling.

$1500 for a furnished, with kitchen is cheap compared to a motel/hotel.
For someone in the area for a month its an affordable base camp.

I'm traveling the month of September and a couple from Denmark here for both a seminar and some sightseeing will be staying in my place.
I'll have an extra $50/day to spend on my travels. Win/Win.
