My fiancee and I have decided to visit these two areas and are in the process of finding a honeymoon package. We have no clue about areas to go that would be romantic, fun, historical, and relaxing. I know some of you out there have traveled to these areas! We would love your input so that we can plan an amazing time! Thank you in advance!
Istanbul is amazing! I was just there in March. Selcuk is a great place to stay if you plan to check out Ephesus (well worth a visit). If your budget allows the Four Seasons in Istanbul is great. I hired a private guide whle I was there and it was well worth it. Pm me if you'd like details.
Ephesus is amazing. It is a whole day visit. Make sure you pay the extra fee for the terraced houses they have (and are still) excavated. They are incredible.
Another nice place in Turkey to kick back and spend a couple of days is Foca.
In Greece you MUST go to the island of Poros.
It's a fantastic place, lesser known to all tourists and it used to be the spot for Greek celebs.
We were there many years ago and I'd love to go again.
Late August when school is back in you've got the beaches to yourself and the pace has slowed down.
I vote for Poros too--easily accessible from Athens by "flying dolphin" (fast ferry), and delightful. Also close to the Peloponnese, the big penninsula--it's my favourite part of Greece--I could imagine a delightful few days in Napflion, for example, a charming Venetian city which was the first capital of Greece.
Istanbul, absolutely! But a lot of this depends on the time of year--when would your honeymoon be?
