It is pretty much a rehash of the materials that the Indianapolis CVB is sending out to the various travel writers around the US. It is what is called lazy travel writing.
Personally, I think Indianapolis is a great town for a long weekend. However, I could pretty much say the same for any Midwestern city. Spend an hour on the internet and you can find 5-6 things to do and 10-15 good restaurant ideas for ANY city with a population of 500,000 or more.

lazy travel writing? lol i doubt the CVB paid this guy. Forbes.com usually has semi-decent reliable writers and heck if you want buy commercial time on the Radio to advertise Indianapolis. that would seem more practical.
Forbes is terrible, one of the worst hack rags in the country for that kind of fluff. The Ten Best This and the Ten Best That, and it's all a bunch of glitzy crap, pieced together by interns, researched for about ten minutes from various cookie-cutter sources, carefully balanced so as not to offend anybody and guaranteed not to surprise anybody..

You don't get it. Many of my friends are writers for major travel publications or freelance for the same type of publications.
They get literally tons of mail from the various CVBs, The CVBs know that if they send out a lot of info to these writers, that they will get a lot of free publicity. The free publicity is a publication like Forbes or the Chicago Tribune is infinitely better than having to shell out the thousands of dollars to buy space in those publications.
Regardless of the source, I took my small children there the first summer after my divorce and there was plenty for us to do. There is also plenty to do and places to eat for a return visit with just my girlfriend and I and no kids. My daughter always asks when we are going back.
Interesting ... I would like to visit it. Thanks for the heads up!
