I am currently in US but in few months i will be going back to my home country India. My brother wants a zippo lighter. I have limited knowledge about lighters and am not sure whether the one he wants is of torch type or flame.
Here is the link...

Amazon.com: Zippo Jack Daniel's Label Pewter Emblem Pocket Lighter: Sports & Outdoors

I want to know whether i can carry this lighter aboard an airplane ? If yes then is it only checked in or carry on as well ? I read the reviews on this lighter on amazon and it was mentioned that out of box it does not come with fuel and i am not really getting it fueled here. I will be carrying it as it will be when i buy it.

Need some clarification in this regard. I have read that torch lighters are not allowed.

The simple answer is that you can now bring one book of matches or one fueled lighter onboard in carry-on luggage.

However: you CANNOT carry on board a torch type lighter.

It's a flame type. Since the advent of disposable lighters and fewer people smoking ZIPPO makes a lot of these for collectors. Advice to your brother, don't carry it in your pocket, the image will wear off rubbing against whatever's in the pocket.

Just pack the lighter in your checked bags.
