You would have more fun if you drove your own car..
My daughter is about to do a two week bus tour from Montreal to LA and back, she seems to think sitting on a bus for the best part of 6 days wont be a problem we'll see what she thinks when she gets back.

Haha i don't have a car (or even a license)
Lol, it's fun if you have never seen all those states but it's not something I would do again, unless I really had no other choice and had a really important reason to.

I hate being in a car for long periods, so for me it's only a matter of whether or not it's faster to drive or fly. When I lived in Phoenix, I always opted to fly to LA, San Diego and Vegas rather than driving, even though none were particularly far. If I were to go to Tucson or Prescott-Sedona I probably would have just driven, though there were flights to those towns. I don't really view TSA as a hassle factor either, but I'm not uptight about my body, so they can frisk away. As a side note, I don't really get the fuss over that-- and turning TSA agents into the "enemy" in air travel-- when there are far more invasive things people either willingly put themselves through (like living in HOAs) or have no objections voting social issues/restrictions into law.
Anyway, the only real benefits to car travel for me are being able to take liquids with me, and being able to smoke when I want... though I'm working on quitting, so that may not be an issue soon.

At this point, 600 miles is driving distance to me, and I do that probably 3-4x a year, even for a 4-day weekend (with 2 of those days obviously mostly driving). It sucks but this is what we've been reduced to with the state of air travel "security". I cut the flying in late 2010.
I broke down and flew to Florida back in late January after over a year of not flying, but not before trying to make a drive down work. I just couldn't fit it into the necessary time frame at the last minute that I was arranging it. Seeing family won over my principles then, but still I've only flown that once in the last 2 years when I normally flew about 4x a year before that.
When it comes to the point where I want to go somewhere other than these drives to Boston I will have to consider my options. I probably have another trip to Florida in next Feb or something and not sure yet what I will do then. It will take a lot more time to drive, but it might be doable.
So what is airplane distance? At this point, nothing is what I would like to say. I'm still hoping for significant changes to airport processes which will make flying better again before I go planning too many trips that would be impractical without flying. Assuming that doesn't happen, then anything transoceanic would be flying distance, and perhaps some shorter flights that don't have endpoints in the US.

It all depends on the timeframe. I'm not going to drive 8 hrs to get to a wedding and then turn around a day or two later and drive 8 hrs back. I'd rather fly.
But I love a good road trip if I have a week to kill.

10 hours (which can be as many as 600+ miles) if I'm driving alone, 20 hours (1200+ miles) if I'm driving with somebody else sharing the wheel.

I have done a 9 hour drive for a funeral only to turn around after 20 hours and make the trip back (though I broke up the return trip with a hotel room at the midway point). Even so it was 18 hours in the car out of about 60 hours total. Thankfully there were three of us taking turns behind the wheel.

Don't mind a drive if we'll be there for some time and want/need a car while we're there. I won't drive anywhere if it takes more than 2 days, tho....flying is the way to go for those trips!

I routinely drive from Tampa Bay/Ohio. It's no big deal for me. Unless I'm seriously pressed for time, I'd much rather drive than fly.

I love to drive and pretty much loathe flying domestically now. Flying domestically is simply no fun anymore. Bad attitudes and crappy service have made it not worth the price of admission for me - not to mention all the new nickel and dime polices on ridiculous things. So if I can drive - I drive. It's more fun for me. Plus you get to see more, explore a bit along the way.
