As a 20 yr old college kid, I did a solo sojourn every weekend,.

CA was a 30 hr drive (ride) for me on a beater Motorcycle. No cell phones, no problem.

I much prefer to travel alone, sent the spouse off this AM on their 'single person' motorhome.

Of the last 6 months, I have spent 3 traveling alone. (With occassional weekends together). We have lots of fun either way, and enjoy showing each other the great spots we find while alone.

Single guy / girl is very EZ. I would stay at a Hostel($20 / night), if I weren't staying at private guest homes ($10 / night). Hotels are pretty lonely in comparison. I like to LEARN from other (solo) travelers.

Although it's farther south, San Diego is usually less hot than LA. Should be very, very pleasant. Sure you don't want to go there?

OP, your traveling there will be a piece of cake. You have very good roads many turnouts, rest areas, safe places to stop and rest. If you have a cell phone for a breakdown you'd get a pretty quick response. On the CA side you'll see quite a few Hwy Patrolmen patrolling the Fwy's.

I traveled solo alot in my 20's

No cell phones back then.

Daytime, no problem, always felt safe.

At night I would stay inside and watch TV.

You will be perfectly fine. Just don't do anything that you wouldn't do in your home town, like going to iffy neighborhoods late at night or getting drunk with a bunch of strangers.

Traveling solo is great fun. Enjoy
