In order to minimize costs, how far beforehand do you book a flight?
I'm going to visit Denmark in April 2013.
When would be the best time for me to book a flight to minimize price.
Right now or sometime closer to the date?

In my experience, (to Europe) a month or so prior gets me a good choice of flights and a reasonable price.

The risks to booking too early- airline schedules might change; unforeseen life events.

Unfortunately, it's a crapshoot. Used to be that booking early meant you got the best price. Now I'm not so sure. I'm looking at booking a trip to Lisbon in March, and I'm not sure how to do it. I've been using Yapta for a while, choosing a flight, then tracking it--frequently the price goes down, sometimes it goes back up. In practical terms, I will probably not book this trip until at least November.

45-30 days seems to be the lowpoint for prices...but when it gets closer to your travel date, the prices start rising again....start checking about 60 days out, and when (if) they get lower, book at your comfort level......and then, stop checking prices! You'll drive yourself crazy!
