London. I'm glad I moved far enough north in England to make a day trip to London no longer viable. One of the unfriendliest cities I've ever visited, dirty air to breathe, and not pleasant to travel round. Having said that, I could go there and walk the sidestreets and backstreets, avoid the crowds, see many interesting and ignored buildings, and enjoy my day out.
About five years since I was last in Paris, but I though it was filthy, with dog waste on the sidewalks. Maybe things have changed now, but I don't have thoughts on ever returning to find out. Another unfriendly city, although that might be because I'm English.
I would say Vegas is near the top of the list of UNEXPLORED travel places. People think "gambling, the strip, that's all there is" but that couldn't be further from the truth. I go about 3 times a year, never gamble, and have still not done everything and seen everything.

Well, the strip itself is definitely overrated IMO. I've been once and won't go again unless I'm there for a work conference or something. $30+ buffets, drunks, gambling, prostitutes, expensive shows, and cheesy casinos just don't do it for me.

Absolutely agree. I like to see the strip now and then, it's a fun drive to take, but I don't spend time there unless I am there specifically for a show or other event. It's also amazing to see from a helicopter at night.

The casino food is not as good as it used to be. I'm not a gambler, so the few times I've been to casinos I've had to seek out other sources of entertainment. Back in the day, the buffets were affordable, but as with all restaurant food, the prices have jumped way up. When I went to Vegas, I spent most of my time swimming. The casinos have great pools.
IMO, one big overrated travel destination is Mexico. It's too hot, even in the winter, the shopping is meh, and Puerta Vallarta was unbelievably dirty and smelly. Cabo, in contrast, reminded me of an American suburban strip mall, and even included many of the stores. Since I'm looking for a different cultural experience, I wasn't impressed by that.
Yellowstone Park. Ugh! $50 to enter and drive for miles upon miles in bumper to bumper traffic at a snail's pace, seeing nothing but trees and a few non-scenic lakes.
Old Faithful was a huge disappointment. 100's of people sit/stand to wait for it to blow. It goes up in the air the equivalent of two fire hoses for about 30 seconds and that's it. A complete waste of time and money.
Parking near Old Faithful is atrocious if you are pulling a travel trailer. They don't have specific parking areas for RV's, so we drove around and around and finally found a spot in the back near the worker's cabins.
It is a huge tourist trap and obviously I didn't do my homework or we wouldn't have gone at all. I just assumed that we'd be impressed because the name Yellowstone is so well known.
In all fairness, I must add that traveling into and out of Yellowstone is absolutely beautiful. The Grand Tetons are really worth seeing.
I thought NYC was overrated and insanely overpriced. It's just a megalopolis full of tall buildings and mobs of people. I went to a couple of Broadway plays and was underwhelmed. The theaters were unremarkable and I can see plays that are just as good here in Houston.
