I have paid the extra bucks for a flight of similar length and I felt it was well worth it. Only you can say if it's worth it for you.

Do the math. $150 for more leg room on a 14 hour flight. $10.71 per hour. On a 14 hr flight I'm sure you are paying a pretty penny, so why not spring for another $150. @ 6'2" and 225lbs I would!

Disclaimer: I have never flown UA economy plus, so I can't speak from experience.

I have never flown UA internationally. However I have flown them on shorter flights. I usually spend the extra for economy plus. A possible side benefit is often you will not have anyone in the middle seat next to you as most people do not want to pay extra for a middle seat. One time after takeoff a passenger tried to upgrade herself for free to the open middle seat next to me in economy plus. I told her that unless she paid for the seat next to me she was not going to sit there. She found someone else in economy plus to sit next to and make miserable for 5 hours.

Go to seatguru.com and check out the plane you'll be on, which will give the seat width and pitch. Many premium economy seats have about 6" more in pitch (i.e., legroom). This is definitely worth it.

I've done Delta plus and it was well worth it. 14 hours in cattle class is torture.

The new economy plus is definitely worth it on that long of a flight. Really the only benefit is more leg room, but that extra few inches really makes all the difference in the world. (that's what she said)
