We drove from Germany all the way to Siberia, then down to Italy, aroud Austria and Switzerland, and then back to Frankfurt.

When we turned in the rental car, the manager came out and attempted to unload on us. My husband clearly whipped out the agreement which said "unlimited mileage." It still ticks me off the manager was abusive when we merely drove the car and abided by the contract. But we got our money's worth!
So did you do anything more than drive, sleep, eat, and use the bathroom for those 5 weeks. By my estimation, 24k miles in 5 weeks amounts to roughly 10 hours driving per day for each day you were out there. To each their own, but I feel like I'd be missing so much that Europe has to offer if all I did was drive from one end of the continent to the other in minimal time.

I spent summer before last working outside of Maryland. On my alternate weekends when I stayed back east, I used to go on weekend trips with the rental car. That included the weekend I was driving their expensive showpiece car (because they couldn't get the model I usually rented, and had tried to pawn a stinky smokers car off on me). They never even raised an eyebrow about the mileage.

Eh 1500 miles per week or so is no big deal really. Even the 25k miles in 4 months is only about that rate, although they probably didn't want you to run it all up on the same new car. Now 24000 miles in 5 weeks, THAT is impressive. Holy crap, over 4000 miles a week, did you ever stop? LOL

Most I have done is a few 4-day weekends where I put on 1500+ miles in 4 days (always includes a drive from Pittsburgh to Boston and back). From the same location too. Hertz. They don't care. Well, I'm sure someone somewhere in the organization would like it if it were fewer miles, but it's not enough to trigger any warning bells. It has to be way more excessive than that and repeatedly to get their attention from what I understand.
