Im a 31 year old single guy looking to travel alone somewhere New Years. I'm wondering where the best place to go would be, I would like to maybe pick up a girl and have a good time out drinking. I currently live in Michigan. I dont want to spend alot of money for the vacation, maybe stay someplace like 3 nights, for around $400 or less with flight. Ive thought about Vegas but its expensive to go out there, any other ideas?

vegas isn't expensive, your budget is just too low. you're not going to be able to go anywhere for only $400, much less for 3 nights. might as well just stay home. unrealistic expectations.

Your budget is a little tight for 3 nights (assuming you'd stay in a hotel) with flight included. It sounds like you'll need to stay pretty close to home. I know some of the bigger casinos (local, not Vegas) have big New Years eve parties, bands, lots of people, dancing, prizes, etc. It might be a fun place to meet a lady to hang out with. Casino hotel rooms are fairly reasonable, but you'd better book it soon or the rooms will be gone. Also--to stay within the budget, I wouldn't recommend too much (or any) gambling. Instead, use the pool, hot tubs, buffet restaurant, and the night club for the party. Or-----if staying at a casino hotel isn't your cup of tea, you could always make a short road trip somewhere you've never been, pick a place for the party (research this before you go), and take your chances! Good luck!

$400 for flight and accommodations over New Year's is not all that realistic....

At any rate, Vegas is really not expensive; there are deals to be had on Hotwire and Priceline.

NYE is an up priced night in most areas - may be a little more difficult with the budget

Could be some fun places within driving distance - have you looked into Windsor?

the problem isn't length, but your limited budget. as far as picking up female travellers goes, new years is the best time of the year to travel. but it's also peak season for most destinations. which means more expensive flights and hotels.

if you want to spend a couple nights in vegas on $400, your only real option is offpeak weekdays. DTW-LAS flights are usually next to nothing, maybe $150 and another $20 for airport transfers. can get decent 4 star hotels on priceline for $35-40 most week nights. so lets say $80 for hotel. Leaves $150 for expenses, not much but doable, can still have a good time on that budget.

but on new years you'll be lucky if you get a flight for $300 and a hotel for $200/night. the same trip would cost $1000+.

I agree with the others that $400 is unrealistic for what you are trying to accomplish. By the time you pay for airfare you will be able to afford a fleabag motel and $.25 drafts. That's going to attract a woman interested in hanging out with you. Not.

You're likely not going to find a flight for less than $400 going to LV during that time much less hotel accomodations included. Even if you did, any fine woman that you meet or pickup will clean your pocket for several hundred more $.

I would check priceline or hotwire to find the best deals.
